Gamestop and Wallstreet bets aside. You clicked on this link for a reason!

You’ve seen and heard about the Clubhouse app the last couple of weeks and because Elon Musk is using it you KNOW that you need either to be on it or to know about it.

Now, according to Gary Vaynerchuk, the app is the beginning of a wildly underrated, emerging, social media platform. Why? Because most people don’t know about it yet.

Before we explain what Clubhouse is, it’s vital for you to understand that this app is audio-based and only available on iOS system atm. Some say that it replicates the idea of having a gathering with a couple of people and just talking. Now, the “X-factor” is that you as a user can join these conversations.

BUT WHAT IS CLUBHOUSE?

In its raw format, Clubhouse is what you would call an audio-based, social media app.

In Clubhouse, you as a user have two options:

  1. START the conversation: create a “Room” (or multiple rooms) where you are responsible for curating discussions around a variety of topics. Honestly, the only limit is your imagination… There are topics from How are marketers adapting to Covid to Is watermelon healthy?
  2. JOIN the conversation: you have the option to join someone else’s room and listen to them speak on a topic. While you listening, you have 3 options: Leave the room, raise your hand (just like using Teams) and add your two cents to the conversation, or finally to add a friend to the conversation.

QUICK THOUGHT: Would you like us to start hosting some talks in Clubhouse, let us know what you think?

Finally, you can then follow people who you believe curate valuable and interesting discussions, or just have some exciting opinions and ideas. Now you might ask, is it not just a Podcast platform…You know what, yes. BUT! because all the conversations are wiped clean after the session is over, rather than being saved or archived, it is somehow unique conversations in comparison to a podcast on Spotify.

Speaking of ‘unique’. The reason it is called a Social Media platform is not just that users can follow other users who they feel curate interesting discussions or have interesting opinions. No, it has to do with the way you get access to the app… Yes, believe it or not, just like a house party, you have to be INVITED to be able to use the app.

QUICK TIP: Customise and limit your notifications, because you will be spammed with notifications about people hosting rooms. Limit it down to what you exactly find interesting.

HOW TO GET A CLUBHOUSE INVITE?

So this is properly going to change. But, as the app is still in beta version and while they’re working through issues and fixing bugs, a number of people have been given invitations to test features and further explore the app. I know what you are thinking, no, you don’t have to be an influencer or know someone who is, to test out space.

Any person who receives an invite also receives invitations to share with anyone they feel would find value from the experience.

So, how do you get a Clubhouse invite? Look around your circle, check LinkedIn, if you don’t have LinkedIn, get it, notice who’s a member of a creative or niche-focused industry, and ask. If you have an extra invite, drop a comment below, or in the social media post where you discovered this blog post.

HOW DOES CLUBHOUSE WORK?

You know what…

I won’t tell you more…

Why?

Because, in order to make you use it, YOU need to explore it. Trust me, I am doing you a favour. But, I do have something for you, as a thank you for reading this blog post, I’ll give out 3 invites — Just drop a comment below.

That’s a wrap! Remember, some users may be celebrities like Elon Musk or Kevin Hart… However, ultimately, this is a platform for people to stay connected with likeminded people or learn from one another. Example: As a business owner, you could start host brand-related events and communicate with your customers or even warm leads. Regardless of the outcome, if the intent is to be authentic, provide value, and to listen to others…It’s going to be worth the time. Remember, it’s not like Youtube where you have to have the app open in order to use it. No, in with your Airpods, close the app and continue your day while listening to interesting conversations.

Thank you for your attention. It goes without saying that it means the absolute world to our team. We hope this piece of content helped you in even the slightest bit and if it did, please share with a friend/co-worker/etc. that could also benefit from this.
